What is behavioural therapy?

Behavioural therapy is derived from the behaviourist psychology tradition. It draws on evidence-based interventions that have been validated through scientific research and it focuses on how the environment affects behaviour.

Who typically attends a behaviour therapist?

Anybody who feels they need support with a particular behaviour can see a therapist.  Behavioural therapy can be useful in treating a range of difficulties in areas such as eating, sleeping, memory, social communication and general learning etc. With that said, children with Autism are the most common client group in a behavioural therapy clinic.

How are referrals made?

Self-referrals can be made by directly contacting the service. Referrals are also taken from Schools, Residential Centres, Social Workers, Solicitors, Speech and Language Therapists and other relevant professionals.

How much does it cost and how long are sessions?

The initial consultation fee is €150 and this includes an assessment, written report and recommendations. Parents are requested to provide any existing reports and these are reviewed prior to the assessment. Kevin also reviews a completed referral form so that he has all the relevant information required prior to the assessment itself.

Every session past the initial assessment takes between 45-50 minutes at a cost of €80.
